SO2 Phase 3 to FOST

Lieutenant Commander Tim Leeder was born in Norwich and educated at Wymondham College School in Norfolk. He joined the Royal Navy in 1999 for initial training at Britannia Royal Navy College, Dartmouth.

On completion of initial training he navigated HMS CHIDDINGFOLD in 2001 conducting both fishery protection patrols and live mine hunting operations in UK waters. He was then appointed to HMS GRAFTON as OOW, for its Telic 2 patrol in 2003 before joining HMS EDINBURGH as the Navigating Officer after successful completion of FNO course. After two very enjoyable years as navigator he was selected to Command HMS PUNCHER and London URNU, on completion of intermediate Command and Staff course. During this time he started to study for his masters in Defence leadership something that will be completed by the start of 2015.

In October 2009 he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and after a short spell with the NCHQ Continuous Improvement team he attended PWO training at COLLINGWOOD, where notably his course was the last to conduct live PWO firings and conduct simulator training at COOK. Graduating in 2011 he joined HMS DIAMOND as PWOU and later OPS, conducting her inaugural BOST, DCT and Kipion deployment. Whilst deployed he was integral to T45 TACDEV in both Gulf ASW and their interoperability and incorporation into the Gulf Air Defence architecture.

He joined FOST as a SWOUW in March 2013, before taking over the role as SO2 Phase 3, where he oversees planning and execution of mission specific training for both UK and NATO units.

Married to Madelaine, they have two Sons (11 and 8) and live in Lee on the Solent.
