FRANK BRADBURN DSM 1927 - 1953
COSSACK 1949 to 1951. Petty Officer, DSM. TASI. Joined RN in 1927 and served until 1953. Also served in IMPREGNABLE, EMPEROR OF INDIA, EAGLE, EAGLE, WOLFHOUND, BULLDOG, ASHANTI, WANDERER, PEMBROKE, OSPREY, ST. ANGELO and NEPTUNE. Whilst serving in WOLFHOUND as a Leading Seaman HSD U-523 was detected and sunk, followed by U-305 on 17/1/44, both in the North Atlantic. Was awarded DSM, presented by King George VI at Buckingham Palace. Was Flotilla TASI whilst in COSSACK. Due to leave the R.N. in 1950 but was retained for an extra 18 months for the Korean War. On leaving the ship, Captain V.C. Begg, Captaim (D)offered Frank the manager's job at a mineral bottling plant in Hong Kong. Frank declined.
