Commodore Tim Green was appointed Deputy Director Maritime Warfare in April 2022 and is responsible for setting, maintaining and developing warfighting standards and delivering operational advantage across the Royal Navy.

Educated at Beverley Longcroft School, East Yorkshire and Teesside University (BA Hons in History and Politics), he joined the Royal Navy in 1993. As a junior officer he qualified as a Bridge Watchkeeping Officer, Submarine Advanced Warfare Officer, Principal Warfare Officer and saw service on operations across the world in submarines, frigates, destroyers, an aircraft carrier and within the Battle Staff of the UK’s Carrier Strike Group.

He has been privileged to command the mine countermeasures vessels HMS Blyth, HMS Walney and HMS Grimsby, and the frigate HMS Westminster.

Shore appointments have included: NATO (SHAPE) as DSACEUR’s lead for force generation across the ISAF and RESOLUTE SUPPORT missions in Afghanistan, Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff Ships in NCHQ and latterly Captain Carriers and Destroyers in the Surface Flotilla HQ.

Tim is a graduate of the United States Joint Advanced Warfighting School in Norfolk, Virginia (MSc in Joint Campaign Planning and Strategy), and Cranfield University’s Project Leadership Programme.

He lives in Hampshire with his wife and son.

Aims of the Association

  • To promote "esprit de corps" amongst members so as to enhance their prestige within the service.
  • To provide wherever possible and within the means of the association, professional help and assistance to the serving membership.
  • To expand the social and recreational activities of its members.
